Tahko Mountain provides year-round slope services surrounded by diverse nature, and therefore managing environmental issues well is important to us. We use electricity produced with renewable energy and are committed to reducing the use of fossil fuels. We are carbon neutral when it comes to electricity.
We employ locals and use local services and products. In addition, we want to offer year-round experiences, both for locals and tourists. For children from Nilsiä, we offer season tickets and ski school at a reduced price.
Sustainable Travel Finland
In the fall of 2021, we as a company were awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label as proof of valuable and long-term work for sustainable tourism. In Finland, the Sustainable Travel Finland program has been developed to strengthen the actions of responsible tourism. The seven-stage Sustainable Travel Finland development path and the Sustainable Travel Finland mark that can be achieved at the end of it mean a continuous development model to which the companies in the region commit to cooperation. In February 2020, Tahko took its first step on its sustainable tourism development path by deciding to apply for the Sustainable Travel Finland program created by Visit Finland. Tahko achieved the Sustainable Travel Finland destination label in May 2023.
Ekokompassi
Completing the environmental certificate is part of the Sustainable Travel Finland program. We completed the audit in May 2021 and were awarded the Ekokompassi certificate. The re-audit of Ekokompassi was successfully completed in May 2024.
